Visible blindness in the urban world society's relation to light now and then
Pata, Václav ; Sedlák, Michal (advisor) ; Gajdošíková, Pavla (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on city in time and age of artificial lighting. It takes the issue of light pollution as its starting point. Elementary sources and consequences of over- lighting are used as a base for the Forgotten Dark worksheets. The sheets were created in collaboration with Veřejný sál Hraničár (Public Hall Hraničář) as an educational material for the gallery cycle Light. Together with the sheets, a need to widen my knowledge and apply it to a specific situation arose. I picked Obchodní dům Prior and Kulturní středisko Corso (Shopping Mall Prior and Culture Center Corso) in the neighborhood of Krásné Březno for that purpose. The pick of the place directed the development of the themes of the theoretical part of the thesis. The middle part of the thesis is trying to show contemporary city from two essential angles. Firstly, I tried to answer the question about sources of the shape contemporary city has taken upon itself. The rest is focused on building public spaces in regard to their nighttime flow. The final chapter is exploring the object of Corso. At first It is trying to take a look at the context of the city part of Krásné Březno, then it is taking a look at the city part in context of Ústí nad Labem. The gathered information is used for a presentation of possible future of...
Advanced scoring of sleep data
Jagošová, Petra ; Novotná, Petra (referee) ; Ronzhina, Marina (advisor)
The master´s thesis is focused on advanced scoring of sleep data, which was performed using deep neural network. Heart rate data and the movement information were used for scoring measured using an Apple Watch smartwatch. After appropriate pre-processing, this data serves as input parameters to the designed networks. The goal of the LSTM network was to classify data into either two groups for sleep and wake or into three groups for wake, Non-REM and REM. The best results were achieved by network doing classification of sleep vs. wake using the accelerometer. The statistical evaluation of this best-designed network reached the values of sensitivity 71,06 %, specificity 57,05 %, accuracy 70,01 % and F1 score 81,42 %.
Sleep scoring using EEG
Holdova, Kamila ; Smital, Lukáš (referee) ; Ronzhina, Marina (advisor)
This thesis deals with wavelet analysis of sleep electroencephalogram to sleep stages scoring. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the theory of EEG signal creation and analysis. The polysomnography (PSG) is also described. This is the method for simultaneous measuring the different electrical signals; main of them are electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyogram (EMG) and electrooculogram (EOG). This method is used to diagnose sleep failure. Therefore sleep, sleep stages and sleep disorders are also described in the present study. In practical part, some results of application of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for decomposing the sleep EEGs using mother wavelet Daubechies 2 „db2“ are shown and the level of the seven. The classification of the resulting data was used feedforward neural network with backpropagation errors.
SLEEPING OUTDOORS
Bendák, Jan ; Tomalík, Michael (referee) ; Tobola, Ondřej (advisor)
The work deals with the influences acting on humans when staying in the outdoor environment and their effects on our daily rhythm. It focuses closely on the ritual of sleeping outside. It strives for a natural understanding of the laws of nature through exposure to the influences that affect us open air on a daily basis. Seasons, weather, light and other factors are determining elements for the work. The result of understanding and combining these principles are outdoor structures designed to accomodate groups or individuals overnight. The objects should serve as a platform for creating a community that will further develop these principles autonomously. The aim is to present the positives of sleeping outside, delimit against the trend of unsustainable growth and to provide an example of how to deal with this tendency through the perception of nature.
Obstructive sleep apnea detection using polysomnography
Smrčková, Markéta ; Mézl, Martin (referee) ; Králík, Martin (advisor)
This thesis attempts to find an alternative method for automatic detection of sleep apnea using polysomnographic data. The first part is focused on introduction to lungs anatomy and physiology of breathing, sleeping and cardiac system. The second part describes the process of sleep examination and particular components of polysomnographic data. The third part is focused on realization of specific method for sleep apnoea detection, application on real data and results evalutation.
Post psychedelic relief
Zdvořáček, Tomáš ; Vaněk, Vojtěch (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to create a sculptural form of the Greek Morpheus. In Greek mythology, Morpheus is the son of the sleep god Hypnosis - he is the god of dreams, responsible for what we dream about. Morphea portrays the work as a "graphics card of the sleep construct", an intelligent entity living on the edge of human consciousness. The Greeks imagined him as a little boy with wings on his temples. He understands Morpheus' work as a column of energy processing billions of dreams simultaneously. As part of the bachelor's thesis, a two-and-a-half-meter-high column was modeled and cast into a laminate, covered on the surface with a finely modeled relief in the post-psychedelic style. In searching for the formal language of the relief, the author used the system of mutual connections from the computer game Factorio.
Detection of Sleep Apnea in Adults
Vrana, Vojtěch ; Králík, Martin (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
The goal of this work is to construct a device detecting apneic respiration pauses during sleep. The most common cause of apnea pauses is obstruction of the airways, eg, airway collapse. Apnea leads to a deterioration in the quality of sleep and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. The controller is designed on the Arduino Uno development board. The whole measuring device consists of two circuits for measuring the external manifestations of movement of respiratory muscles and a microphone for measuring the presence of air flow.
Sleep EEG analysis
Kříženecká, Tereza ; Potočňák, Tomáš (referee) ; Ronzhina, Marina (advisor)
This thesis deals with the analysis of EEG during various sleep stages, which is done by calculating the selected parameters from the time and frequency domain. These parameters are calculated from individual segments of EEG signals that correspond with various sleep stages. Based on the analysis it decides which EEG parameters are appropriate for the automatic detection of the phases and which method is more suitable for evaluation of data in hypnogram. The programme MATLAB was used for the analysis and also for the comparison of chosen data.
Model of breathing stabilization in infant using stochastic mechanosensoric stimulation
Laníková, Petra ; Čmiel, Vratislav (referee) ; Provazník, Ivo (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to create a stochastic model of the breathing automaticity oscillator, including its management with the possibility of stopping and restarting oscillation by an accidental process. The oscillator is implemented by computer program MATLAB R2014a and the results are compared with real records of breathing patterns in newborns. These results are represented with pictures. To evaluate these records is used knowledge of respiratory automatism and sleep apnea syndrome, especially apnea in preterm neonates
Sleep scoring using artificial neural networks
